Milk Tea Bubble Tea Recipe - Chichilicious

Bubble tea, also known as Boba tea is a cold milk tea based drink with large tapioca pearls at the bottom. The most popular bubble tea flavors are the regular milk tea bubble tea, taro, coconut, and honeydew. Bubble tea is actually very easy recipe to make at home, it’s inexpensive and much better than store-bought bubble tea that use pre-made powders (often overly sweet). Aside from the black tea and large straws, you’ll need large tapioca pearls which could be tricky get but you can find them in most Asian supermarkets or if you don’t have one close to your home simply order them online.

I’m excited for summer, I have been wanting to make this recipe since the winter! I absolutely love milk tea, especially the ones from Asia. When I was in Hong Kong I had milk tea everyday, It is creamy with a strong black tea flavor.

Milk Tea Bubble Tea Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 Black tea bags
  • 1 sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 liters water
  • 1 pack tapioca pearls

Instructions

Make the tapioca pearls (boba)

  • Cook the tapioca pearls according to the directions on the package. Drain and soak in cold water.

Make the milk tea

  • Boil the water in a large pot and add all of the black tea bags. Boil for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the sweetened condensed milk, adding a little at a time until you achieve the sweetness that you want. Set aside and allow to cool.

Assemble bubble tea

  • Put the tapioca pearls in a tall glass and add the milk tea. You can also add ice if you like. Serve with a large straw. Enjoy!
